With surroundings that include four lanes of heavily
traveled asphalt, an adult dancing establishment, and car dealerships, this library needs presence to avoid being missed. And it gets presence courtesy of the gargantuan clock sitting astride its front. The smallish Midland Park to the north of the library provides patrons the perfect viewpoint to forget about their surroundings thanks to the simple and ingenious design of this structure. Laid out as a long, high-ceilinged hallway, the library opens a glass wall to the bucolic idyll of the park and at the other end, turns a blind eye to the monstrosity of 122nd.
