together in an environment that has fountains and pleasant landscaping. Amid the generica of 82nd Avenue, St. Anthony Village has a church, day-care, and over a hundred units of senior housing, and this planned community is designed around its central piazza.
* This is the first church in Oregon designed by a firm owned by women.
The church itself is modestly sized, in perfect proportion to the area around it. A tower (sans bell) creates a symbolic focus to the building. Dramatic stained glass is used throughout the church, but there is also ample clear glass that allows parishioners to interact with the piazza outside. The design, location, and appearance of the church create a well-composed tableau in this village.
* Father Michael Maslowsky used yogurt cups to model his notions for how the church should look.
